New pattern in CAT 2020 due to Corona Virus

CAT 2020 exam will now be on a new pattern. The registration date has been extended to 23 September. According to the exam organizer IIM Indore, CAT will be held on November 29 in three sections. The revised time of the test will be 120 minutes i.e. 2 hours. It will have three sections. In the first section, there will be a test of Barbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, in the second section Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, and the third section Quantitative Ability. Candidates will be given 40 minutes for questions from each section. Answering in one section cannot be switched to another section. To understand the format of the test, tutorials will be available on the CAT website from October.

By 2005, CAT was a 120-minute paper. The time from 2006–2008 was 150 minutes. From 2015 it became 3 hours. This year many changes have been made regarding Covid 19. The exam is of one day, so the time was reduced to adjust 3 tests instead of 2. Given the reduction in the time, a 30 to 35 percent reduction in questions is possible. This means that in CAT 2020 there will be approximately 65–70 questions.

Director of IIM Indore Prof. Himanshu Rai says that the examines have confidence in their abilities. Stay away from distractions and stay focused on the exam. By doing so, they will surely be able to achieve their goal. At the same time, Cat Conveyor Prof. Harshal Lovalekar says that information related to the changes will be available on the website on 20 September.
