Describing the achievements of the ministry over the past year, Tribal Welfare Minister Ajurn Munda told IANS that the tribal ministry is working on the principle of Good Governance and is committed in uplifting the tribal society of the country. He said that on the basis of good governance, responsibility in transparency has been brought in the functioning of the Ministry, due to which the work and programs in the Ministry have been authentically successful. Munda said that the ministry has launched the 'Disha' portal in this context so that all welfare works of the ministry can be monitored. Through this, Ministry of Tribal Youth from time to time, Capacity building for women and public representatives has also been done. The Union Minister for Tribal Welfare said that during this era of Corona global epidemic, the focus was on saving tribal people and getting fair price for wildlife products. In this context, all the state governments were instructed and nodal officers were appointed in the states. Munda said that the Ministry of Tribal Affairs is emphasizing on the development of infrastructure in tribal areas in collaboration with another ministry.
The road in this area is trying to develop the means of transport along with the construction of culvert. Along with this, emphasis is being laid on developing irrigation systems and proper lighting arrangements in these areas. He said that in the year 2019-20, 16 thousand crore rupees were spent only on this head. When asked what measures have been taken for the educational development of tribal people. He said that the Government of India is giving scholarships to tribal students to study. In 2019 alone, two and a half thousand crore rupees were transferred to the students' account as scholarship under 5 schemes. He said that the Ministry of Tribal Welfare is the first ministry to give pre and post matriculation scholarships to students.
He said that in the same way, more than 4794 tribal students are being given scholarship through DBT in 331 universities across the country. He said that in this period of global pandemic, the minimum support price has been increased on 49 wild produce, so that the forest wealth collectors can benefit. With this, 1125 Van Dhan Kendras are being set up across the country at a cost of Rs. 150 crores. At the same time, the tribal ministry is trying to make the wildlife products available to the market through TRIFED with the aim of benefiting the tribal people through CII, FICCI and ASSOCHAM.
